Your IP Address:
What is an IP address? An IP address is simply a number assigned to a particular device on a network (e.g. the Internet) which allows other devices to communicate with it by transmitting data to that address. For example, whenever your web browser requests a page from a website, it attaches it's own IP address to the request so that the target website will know where to send the data to. This is not unlike the manner in which a phone number or mailing address provides routing information for people to correspond with you.
Can I hide or change my IP address? You cannot surf without an IP address, because web sites and other online services can only communicate with you by routing information to an IP that leads back to you. However, you can "change" your IP address by masking it with an intermediate/relay server. More information about this can be found on our homepage.
